A large-scale community cleanup under the national 'Taza Qazaqstan' campaign took place in Pavlodar: thousands of residents turned out to clear the banks of the Usolka River, while 60 large linden trees were planted along Satpayev Street — part of an ongoing program to renew the city's green fund, reports infohub.kz.
On the instructions of regional head Asain Baikhanov, Pavlodar's green fund renewal program has been successfully implemented for several years. Old trees in the city are removed entirely, including their root systems, and new ones are planted in their place. Moreover, instead of small saplings, large mature trees are used.
"Their advantage is that, with a reserve in the root and a formed crown, they very quickly become productive and already in the 2nd-3rd year begin to provide us with both aesthetic and environmental benefits. They bring us all these useful things," says Pavlodar biologist Tatyana Ponomareva.
Residents took part in the planting, along with Akim of Pavlodar Region Asain Baikhanov and Akim of Pavlodar Khasar Khabylbekov. The regional head noted that the practice has proven effective, and therefore its scale can be increased.
"We need to increase the number of large trees, severalfold. For example, in 2027-2028, plant 3,000 trees each year. Yes, it is costly, but we can afford it. My personal concerns were that our soil is very aggressive and precipitation is low at 200-250 mm. And secondly, we have sand. Given all this, small trees will struggle to take root," noted Akim of Pavlodar Region Asain Baikhanov.
At the same time, one of the largest cleanup events took place today along the banks of the Usolka River, with thousands of residents taking part. Young people, community activists and volunteers cleared several hectares of household waste. A concert program and free distribution of pilaf were also organized there.
"During the month of cleanliness and improvement, the city landfill will accept waste from residents free of charge. Throughout the entire month of cleanliness, the city akimat's housing and utilities department provides specialized equipment for waste removal upon residents' requests," the Pavlodar city akimat said.
By the way, tens of thousands of residents take part in the 'Taza Qazaqstan' campaign in Pavlodar every year, ready to clean parks and squares, their courtyards, and children's and sports grounds. The month of cleanliness will last until October 12. Also, by the end of the season, there are plans to plant another 650 trees in Pavlodar.
