A promise of easy money on social media landed a woman from the Pavlodar Region in criminal trouble. According to the press service of the regional Department of the Penal Correction System, the story began with an ordinary social media ad, reports infohub.kz.
The young woman came across an offer of quick earnings and clicked the link, which led her into a chat with unknown individuals. There, she was told the terms of the "job": money would be deposited into her bank account, and she was to transfer it to specified accounts of other people. She was promised a fee for each transfer.
After agreeing to the terms, the woman became part of an illegal financial scheme. Over the entire period, she received a total reward of more than 300,000 tenge.
However, the promised easy money resulted in a criminal penalty. Following the trial, she was sentenced to one year of restriction of freedom.
After the verdict, the convicted woman was registered with the probation service of the May District, whose officers monitor compliance with the court-imposed obligations and conduct preventive work.
