A tourist plane crash in Peru has killed all 13 people on board, according to local media and Peruvian authorities. The aircraft was flying over the Nazca Lines archaeological site when it went down. There were 11 passengers and two pilots on board. The cause of the crash and the identities of the passengers are not yet known, reports infohub.kz.
The Nazca Lines, a popular tourist attraction and UNESCO World Heritage site in southern Peru, feature ancient drawings in the desert sand. The crash occurred around 13:00 local time (19:00 GMT) in the Pueblo Viejo region, after the plane took off from an airport in Pisco.
Police Major Jorge Andrade told AFP: "Given the severity of the accident, there are no survivors. We have recovered four bodies so far."
This is not the first plane crash over the famed site. In 2022, another small tourist plane crashed during a flight over the Nazca Lines, killing seven people. In 2010, a tourist plane went down over the site, killing six.
