A plane carrying tourists crashed in Peru, killing 11 passengers, the pilot, and a tour guide, according to the website infohub.kz.
Local sources reported that the incident occurred near Pueblo Viejo in the Nazca province, close to the Maria Reiche airfield. The aircraft, operated by Aerodiana, was on a sightseeing flight over the famous Nazca Lines, having departed from Pisco.
On board were seven Italians, two Germans, and two Spaniards, while both crew members were Peruvian. The victims ranged in age from 18 to 78.
The plane lost contact with air traffic control while approaching Nazca airport. Rescuers at the scene confirmed there were no survivors and found that the aircraft, registration OB-2001, was completely destroyed by fire.
The pilot sent a distress signal at 1:01 p.m. local time, after which communication was lost. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
