Rover, a service for pet owners, has released its annual report on the most popular cat and dog names, and the standout trend among cat names in the US is Chicken Nugget, reports infohub.kz.
According to People, the company's specialists compiled the ranking based on data from millions of users registered on the platform between August and October. Experts noted that pet owners are increasingly drawing inspiration from food and pop culture.
In the cat name category, Chicken Nugget showed rapid growth, followed by Miracle, Badger, Ice Cream and Hector. Among dogs, Rumi was the fastest-growing name, climbing 71% in the ranking thanks to popular animated characters. The dog leaders also included Lumi, Melo, Benito and Ducky.
Meanwhile, the list of the most traditional and widespread names remains stable. The most common names for cats were Milo and Luna, while Charlie and Luna hold the top spots among dogs. Movie and musical premieres also noticeably influenced name choices, including characters Elphaba from "Wicked" and Mufasa from "The Lion King."
