Gold items worth a large sum have been stolen from a pawnshop in Petropavl, with the company's management offering a reward for help in solving the crime, the website infohub.kz reports.
The theft was announced on the pawnshop's Instagram account. According to the post, an unknown person broke into one of the branches of a limited liability partnership in the city of Petropavl during the night of August 15-16, 2026, and stole gold items worth a large sum.
"If anyone has reliable information about this theft of property, we ask you to help solve the crime. We guarantee strict confidentiality and a worthy reward for information," the statement said.
The Police Department of the North Kazakhstan Region told a NUR.KZ correspondent that a pre-trial investigation is underway into the pawnshop theft in Petropavl.
"The scene was examined, physical evidence was seized, CCTV footage is being reviewed, and employees of the organization and witnesses have been questioned. The necessary investigative and operational-search measures are being carried out to identify the person involved in the theft and to locate the stolen property," police said.
The department noted that no other information may be disclosed under Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
