A 35-year-old worker died at a pasta factory in Petropavlovsk while cleaning a dough mixer — the man was pulled into the equipment, infohub.kz reports.
According to local TV channel MTRK, the tragedy occurred around 3:00 a.m. The production line had been stopped to clean the dough-mixing machine. At that moment, the equipment's blades started up and the victim was pulled inside. The employee died before an ambulance arrived.
It is known that the deceased lived with his parents and had no wife or children. He had worked at the pasta factory for about 13 years.
Azat Kusherbayev, deputy head of the Department of the Committee for State Labor Inspection for the North Kazakhstan Region, said the investigation into the accident will establish why the dough-mixing machine was not disconnected from power and whether safety briefings were conducted.
An NUR.KZ correspondent sent a request to the press service of the Police Department of the North Kazakhstan Region. It said police have opened a criminal case over a violation of labor protection rules that resulted in a person's death.
"Investigative actions are being carried out aimed at a comprehensive and objective examination of all circumstances of the incident. Based on their results, a procedural decision will be made, and a submission will also be sent to the labor inspectorate and the enterprise's management to eliminate the causes and conditions that led to the accident," the press service added.
