In Petropavlovsk, two school employees fell from a height of five meters while renovating a gym and sustained severe injuries, reports infohub.kz.

According to the Telegram channel Halyqstan, the incident occurred during cosmetic repairs at the specialized Kazakh school-gymnasium named after Abai. The two women were painting the gym ceiling when they fell from scaffolding. A 54-year-old janitor suffered a traumatic brain injury, multiple leg fractures, and an open fracture requiring surgery. Doctors describe her condition as stable. Her 57-year-old colleague sustained a compression fracture of the thoracic and lumbar spine. She is in the trauma department and also requires surgical intervention.

The North Kazakhstan Region Police Department told NUR.KZ that a pre-trial investigation has been launched into a violation of occupational safety rules. "According to preliminary data, two women fell from scaffolding during renovation work and were taken to a medical facility. Necessary investigative actions are underway. All circumstances and causes of the incident are being established. A final procedural decision will be made based on the results of the investigation," the department said.
