A court in Petropavlovsk has sentenced the owner of several trucks to 10 days of administrative arrest for refusing to comply with a police order to remove his vehicles from the shoulder of a national highway, reports infohub.kz.
The trucks had been parked for an extended period at kilometer 479-480 of the Astana–Kokshetau highway, near the turnoff to Petropavlovsk airport. The heavy vehicles caused subsidence in the road surface.
The owner claimed he could not move the trucks because he lacked keys, had no contact with drivers, and the vehicles were malfunctioning. However, the court dismissed these arguments as unfounded, noting they were not supported by objective evidence. The owner is obligated to take timely measures to remove obstacles, including arranging repairs for faulty equipment.
In rendering its decision, the court also took into account that the man had previously been held administratively liable multiple times for violations related to heavy vehicle operation. Consequently, he was found guilty of disobeying a lawful police order and sentenced to 10 days of administrative arrest.
The court ruling has not yet entered into force.
