Police in the North Kazakhstan Region have thwarted an attempt to bring a particularly large batch of synthetic drugs into Petropavlovsk, according to infohub.kz.
According to the information media portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a 25-year-old foreign national was detained in the city during operational-search activities. During a search, sneakers were taken from his bag, and inside them 250 grams of the synthetic drug a-PvP were found and seized.
The ministry noted that the foreigner was legally working in Kazakhstan — at a construction site and also making samsa. However, according to police, about a week ago he "took a job" with an online store selling psychotropic substances.
"According to the detainee, he received a batch of the synthetic drug from a 'stash' in Astana and delivered it to Petropavlovsk for packaging and subsequent distribution through 'drop-offs'," the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The man is currently in custody. A pre-trial investigation is underway into the sale of drugs on a particularly large scale.
