Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the United States, when starting the conflict in the Middle East, expected a quick fall of the republic following the Venezuela scenario, but that did not happen, reports infohub.kz.
As reported by TASS, the Iranian leader stressed that the adversary miscalculated. "The enemy assumed that Iran would fall like Venezuela. That did not happen, and moreover, Iran has become a force whose steadfastness, unity, and cohesion have amazed the world," Iranian media quoted him as saying.
Pezeshkian added that the Iranian people will endure despite the "most horrific sanctions" imposed against the country.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump posted a map on Truth Social showing the Strait of Hormuz, captioning it "New US Territory." In response, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Iran would "correct the misconceptions" of the American leader.
Additionally, Trump said that negotiations between the US and Iran are currently not underway and are not planned. Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf criticized the Trump administration, calling them clowns.
