The longtime Apple executive, who oversees the App Store, is preparing to leave his post. The changes come as Tim Cook steps down as CEO, handing over leadership to John Ternus, former senior vice president of hardware engineering, starting September 1. Cook will become executive chairman of the board.
Schiller, who has been with Apple for decades, was a key figure in the team of company founder Steve Jobs. In 2020, he stepped down as senior vice president of worldwide marketing to take on a special role as Apple Fellow, continuing to oversee the App Store and product launch events. Sources inside the company say these changes bring his eventual retirement closer.
Schiller's departure is part of a broader management transition in Cupertino. The company has already seen several other key executives leave, including those in design and software engineering.
