In a prison in the East Kazakhstan region, staff thwarted an attempt to smuggle two mobile phones to inmates hidden inside a loaf of bread, 24KZ reports, citing Polisia.kz.
During an inspection of a food package, officers from the regional Department of the Correctional System (UIS) discovered two phones inside the bread. The prohibited items were confiscated and relevant documents were filed. According to the department, such attempts occur regularly, but due to thorough checks, they are detected in time and prevented from entering the prison grounds. Saltanat Ozhikanova, official representative of the UIS Department for the East Kazakhstan region, emphasized: "The illegal transfer of mobile phones and other prohibited items threatens the established order of serving sentences and the safety of the facility. The department urges citizens to comply with legal requirements and reminds that such actions entail administrative liability."
