In Almaty, a court found a local resident guilty of repeatedly making sexual advances toward a 12-year-old girl and sentenced him to 20 days in jail, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to case materials, the incident occurred in November 2025. The man worked as a superintendent and plumber in the building where the victim lived with her mother and younger brother.
The girl said the plumber knocked on their door under the pretext of checking the pipes. When she opened the door, he entered. At that moment, she was playing with her brother but later got upset with him and went to the children's room. The man approached her, asked 'Are you upset with me?' and then slid his hand under her namazlik and then under her T-shirt, touching and tickling her chest and neck. The girl abruptly stood up and said, 'Hey, you can't do that.' The man did not respond. Her brother entered the room, and the plumber picked up the boy, placed him on the bed, tickled him over his clothes, and left.
The schoolgirl also recounted two other incidents. Around October 2025, while she was sitting in the back seat of the man's car and turned to get her phone, he slapped her on the buttocks. Another time, while the plumber was repairing a pipe, he told her 'Kiss me,' but when he tried to kiss her, she grabbed his beard.
The girl explained that she did not tell her mother about what happened because the man intimidated her, threatening to say she was misbehaving in the yard.
The defendant pleaded not guilty. He claimed he was merely talking and playing with the children, treating them to sweets, and called the accusations revenge by the girl's mother, whom the building owner was trying to evict due to conflicts with neighbors.
The victim's mother told the court that the defendant had previously sent her messages saying 'Your daughter is great, pure, I love her,' and had also harassed her. The girl testified in the absence of the defendant but in the presence of a psychologist.
Judge Rabiga Abdoldanova of the Nauryzbay District Court in Almaty sentenced the man to 20 days in jail, ordered him to pay 19,660 tenge, and banned him from holding positions related to working with minors for three years.
