A heavy downpour in Astana has brought not only jokes and complaints to social media, but also new heroes. A police officer helped a woman cross a flooded street, reports infohub.kz.

A video went viral on Threads, captured during a severe rainstorm in the capital. The footage shows a police officer picking up a woman and carrying her across a huge puddle that had flooded a pedestrian crossing.

Social media users quickly praised the officer's actions. In the comments, they called him a true gentleman and thanked him for his help. "I'm more concerned that he's standing in the water; I hope he doesn't get sick," wrote one user. "So cute. They should at least give them a kiss on the cheek as a thank you," added another. "Handsome and his actions are beautiful," users wrote under the post.

However, some users focused not only on the officer's deed but also on the conditions he had to work in. Commentators lamented that officers have to stand ankle-deep in water without special gear. Others once again criticized city authorities for flooded streets and problems with storm drainage.
