In the East Kazakhstan region, a police officer did not hesitate to descend into a sewer manhole and rescue two workers, reports infohub.kz.

According to the regional police department's press service, on August 20 at around 2:30 p.m., two employees of the municipal state enterprise "Molodezhny", born in 1985, were cleaning sewer pipes near house No. 11 in the village of Kasym Kaysenov, Ulan district.

During the work, one of the men descended into the manhole and lost consciousness. Trying to help his colleague, the second worker went down after him but also lost consciousness.

The incident was noticed by a forensic expert of the Ulan district, police captain Aset Nagashbayev, who was passing by. Hearing the alarming cries and seeing people near the manhole, he immediately informed the local district inspector.

Police major Nurdaulet Tetepov arrived at the scene. Realizing that every second counted, he promptly asked for a rope, secured it, and descended into the manhole.

"Aware of the danger he was exposing himself to, the officer did not stop. Within minutes, he helped the first worker climb out, then the second. After that, both men were handed over to the arriving ambulance crew," the police department of the East Kazakhstan region said.

Thanks to the vigilance of police captain Aset Nagashbayev and the brave actions of police major Nurdaulet Tetepov, a tragedy was averted.
