Police officers from other regions have been brought in for Operation Safe Road, an enforcement and prevention campaign under way in Pavlodar and East Kazakhstan regions and the Abai region, infohub.kz reports.

According to the Interior Ministry's information media portal, the operation is being carried out in these three regions from October 17 to November 1 of this year.

Around 700 traffic violations have been identified in three days. In particular, 8 drivers were behind the wheel while intoxicated, and 12 had no right to drive or had been stripped of it. Another 34 drivers ran a red light, and two drove into oncoming traffic. Measures were taken in line with the law in all the cases identified.

"The main goal is not to punish but to prevent road accidents and save human lives. Dear citizens! We urge everyone to strictly observe traffic rules, protect your own lives and care for the safety of those around you. Remember: one mistake on the road can cost a human life. Road safety is our shared responsibility!" the Interior Ministry said.
