A major tragedy occurred in Russia's Yaroslavl Region: a fire at a pyrotechnics manufacturing plant in the village of Kubrinsk, Pereslavl-Zalessky Municipal District, killed 14 people, while another woman was injured and hospitalized, infohub.kz reports.
According to RIA Novosti, two buildings at the firecracker production facility caught fire the day before. The fire was extinguished.
A criminal case has been opened over violations of industrial safety requirements. According to TASS, it was precisely safety violations that may have caused the fire at the pyrotechnics production site.
Yaroslavl Region Governor Mikhail Yevrayev declared Wednesday, September 30, a day of mourning in the region.
"September 30 is declared a day of mourning in the region for those killed in the fire at the facility in the village of Kubrinsk, Pereslavl-Zalessky District. On my own behalf and on behalf of the regional government, I express my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims," the regional head said.
