The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan, have returned to the UK with their children Archie and Lilibet, according to infohub.kz.

According to the BBC, the family arrived on a private flight from California. This is their first return to their homeland six years after stepping back from royal duties and moving to the US.

Prince Harry and Meghan will not resume official duties but plan to live in the UK as private individuals and non-working members of the royal family. It is expected that they will settle in a private estate in the picturesque Cotswolds area, outside London.

The couple's children, Archie and Lilibet, have already been enrolled in a school, with the academic year starting next week.

King Charles III was informed of Prince Harry and Meghan's return with their children in early August. In July this year, the family visited the King at his private home in Gloucestershire, but it is understood that the move was not discussed at that time. The Prince and Princess of Wales were also aware of the Sussexes' plans.

Prince Harry and Meghan ceased performing royal duties in spring 2020 and moved to California. Since then, family relations have been strained, and the visit to the King and Queen Camilla in July was a key event, notes BBC News. The King saw his grandchildren for the first time in more than four years.

Prior to this, the Sussexes had not been together in the UK since 2022, when they attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Harry has previously stated that security concerns prevent him from bringing his wife and children to the UK. Last year, he lost a legal challenge over the level of security he and his family are entitled to while in the country. It is unclear what measures will be taken to ensure their safety in the UK and who will pay for them.

Following the announcement of the Sussexes' planned return, a spokesperson for the UK Home Office said that decisions on security matters for members of the royal family are made by the Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC).
