An off-site meeting of the Public Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was held in Almaty to discuss public safety, crime prevention, social protection for police officers, and strengthening public trust in law enforcement, infohub.kz reports.
For the first time, members of the 'Halyk Keñesi' took part in the off-site meeting of the Public Council of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This marked an important step in expanding public dialogue and strengthening interaction between the police and civil society.
The main topic was the implementation of the 'Law and Order' principle, identified by President of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqaev as one of the key priorities of state policy.
It was noted that, in line with the tasks set by Minister of Internal Affairs Yerzhan Sadenov, special attention is being paid to crime prevention, police openness, and strengthening interaction with the public. Participants emphasized that security cannot be ensured by police alone. Citizens themselves, public associations, volunteers, and youth organizations play an important role in maintaining law and order.
Particular attention was given to the shift from responding to crimes already committed to their early prevention. Arman Sadanov, Chairman of the Committee for Coordination of Preventive Work, spoke about the measures being taken, the identification of causes of offenses, and the improvement of preventive work.
Another important topic was the social protection of law enforcement officers. Almas Amzeyev, Head of the Department of Social and Medical Support, presented information on social guarantees, medical support, and measures to improve service conditions. It was emphasized that the social security of officers directly affects the quality of their work and the effectiveness of their official duties.
The meeting also heard reports from Aydyn Kabduldinov, Head of the Almaty Police Department, and Meiram Abikeyev, Head of the Almaty Region Police Department, on the results of their work for the first nine months of 2026. The focus was on ensuring public safety, preventing offenses, protecting the rights of the population, and complying with the law and official discipline.
An important part of the discussion was the role of the Public Council in ensuring police openness and accountability. It was noted that the Public Council should be not merely a platform for hearing reports but an effective feedback mechanism between citizens and law enforcement agencies. Members of the Public Council discussed current issues of police activity, interaction with the public, and improving the effectiveness of preventive work.
At the same time, it was emphasized that public trust is formed primarily through the daily work of each police officer — their professionalism, fairness, discipline, and respectful attitude toward people.
Following the meeting, further tasks were outlined to improve crime prevention, strengthen social support for officers, and develop police-public interaction. The main benchmarks for this work remain the safety of citizens, the protection of their rights, and the practical implementation of the 'Law and Order' principle.
