The opening ceremony of the international tournament "Games of the Future – 2026" took place in Astana. Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the participants, expressing gratitude to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the high level of organization and traditional Kazakh hospitality, reports the website infohub.kz.
Putin emphasized that the Games of the Future combine sport and innovation, physical and intellectual competition, and their main mission is to promote the harmonious development of individuals and open progress. "I am confident that over time, the number of independent disciplines in the Games' program and digital sports in general will grow," he said.
The Russian leader noted that the first Games were held in Russia in February-March 2024 and generated great interest among athletes and spectators worldwide. "I want to note that from the very beginning, these Games have been and remain free from politics and discrimination," Putin added.
The Russian president particularly highlighted the personal contribution of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to organizing the competition. "It is thanks to his personal involvement and committed stance that the third Games of the Future are being held in Astana... We are well aware of the traditions, generosity, and hospitality that characterize our Kazakh friends. Therefore, I am confident that the Games will be held at the highest level, and athletes and spectators will get many positive emotions from the uncompromising competition of the teams," he concluded.
In response, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev thanked Vladimir Putin for his warm words. "The Games of the Future are being held in Kazakhstan for the first time this year. This is a great honor for us. The President of Russia has just sent a special congratulations to Kazakhstan and all participants. I express my deep gratitude to Vladimir Vladimirovich," the head of state said.
Recall that the opening ceremony is also attended by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
