Kazakhstan's second-ranked women's singles player, Yulia Putintseva, has ended her run at the 2026 US Open, according to infohub.kz.
The world No. 84 met Zheng Qinwen in the second round. The Chinese player, a former world No. 4 and Olympic champion from Paris 2024, is currently ranked 121st and reached the main draw through qualifying.
The match went the full three sets, with Zheng winning 6:4, 2:6, 6:1. The players spent 2 hours and 37 minutes on court.
Putintseva fired three aces, committed four double faults, and converted four of nine break points.
The Kazakh was also entered in the women's doubles draw with Italian Elisabetta Cocciaretto, but the pair withdrew before the first round.
Thus, Putintseva has definitively concluded her participation in the season's final Grand Slam. In the women's singles, Elena Rybakina remains the only Kazakhstani left in the draw.
