Kazakhstan's second-ranked women's singles player Yulia Putintseva secured a victory in the second round of the WTA 250 tournament in the Romanian city of Iași, reports infohub.kz.

The world No. 82 and ninth seed faced Armenia's Alina Charaeva, ranked 118th, in the second-round match.

The match lasted two sets and ended with Putintseva winning 6:3, 6:3.

The players spent 1 hour 35 minutes on court. During that time, Putintseva served three aces, committed one double fault, and converted four of nine break points.

Putintseva thus reached the quarterfinals, where she will face the winner of the match between Mayar Sherif (Egypt) and Kaitlyn Quevedo (Spain).
