Rafael Urazbakhtin has submitted his resignation as head coach of the football club Kairat, and the club's management has accepted it, infohub.kz reports.

According to the team's press service, the specialist decided to leave the position himself, and the club's management accepted that decision.

Urazbakhtin took charge of the senior team in September 2024 and led the yellow-and-blacks to the Kazakh championship in his very first season.

In 2025, under his leadership, Kairat won the Kazakh Super Cup, defended its championship title and reached the league phase of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in its history. In the 2026 season, the team reached the league phase of the UEFA Conference League and claimed silver medals in the national championship.

Zhorа Arutyunyan, who previously headed Kairat-Zhastar, has been appointed acting head coach. Under his leadership, the team will prepare for its upcoming match against Altai.

It was reported earlier that Kairat lost its chance at the title after a draw with Aktobe. After 29 matches, Kairat has 64 points and remains in second place in the KPL standings.
