The legendary Rakhmanov Springs sanatorium in the East Kazakhstan Region has changed hands once again: it is now on the balance sheet of the Regional Center for Public-Private Partnership of the East Kazakhstan Region. The company told Kursiv how the abandoned resort is being restored, according to infohub.kz.
Recall that the sanatorium initially passed into state ownership in 2024 amid high-profile court battles over the assets of the Bipek Auto Kazakhstan group and its former owner, Anatoly Balushkin. At that time, the resort's first owner was the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industrial-Innovative Development of the East Kazakhstan Region.
However, in late 2025, Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov said that Rakhmanov Springs was under the administration of the Presidential Affairs Department.
It later emerged that the resort had been handed back to local officials, placed on the balance sheet of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industry of the East Kazakhstan Region.
Now it is managed by the Regional Center for Public-Private Partnership of the East Kazakhstan Region, a company that attracts private investment to the region.
According to the Regional Center for Public-Private Partnership of the East Kazakhstan Region, buildings and utility networks are currently being inspected, property is being inventoried, faults are being repaired, and the grounds are being improved. At the same time, major repairs are underway on the access road, with new asphalt being laid.
"Priority repair work, landscaping, and bringing the facilities into proper condition are being carried out," the company said.
In addition, a 24-hour tourist police post has been set up at the sanatorium, and a video surveillance system is being developed for the entire complex.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that tourists unhappy with the repairs to the road leading to the popular East Kazakhstan resort of Rakhmanov Springs had begun insulting road workers and getting into fights with them.
