Four people have died and dozens of buildings have been flooded in Japan's Chiba Prefecture due to record rainfall, with one resident still missing, according to infohub.kz.
Heavy rains hit Chiba Prefecture, located east of Tokyo, on the evening of August 13. According to Japan's public broadcaster NHK, record rainfall was recorded in several areas.
As a result of the disaster, dozens of buildings have been flooded in the prefecture, and one person is missing. In the city of Ichikawa, several cars were stranded on flooded roads, and public transport was suspended in Chiba.
In the prefectural capital, Chiba, 348 millimeters of rain fell in 12 hours, the highest ever recorded and about three times the average monthly rainfall for August.
On Friday morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency lowered the warning level for heavy rain and landslides from the maximum fifth to fourth and below in various municipalities.
