In the Almaty region, a rescue operation to evacuate two Russian citizens injured in the mountains has been successfully completed. The incident occurred in the Talgar district, where a tourist group of eight people called for help at the high-altitude hydrological post 'Toguzak', located at an altitude of 3,510 meters, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a 25-year-old woman suffered a head injury from a falling rock, despite wearing a protective helmet. A 32-year-old man injured his arm after a fall, possibly a bruise or fracture.
Due to the difficult high-altitude terrain, thick fog, prolonged precipitation, and flight altitude restrictions, the use of aviation at the time of the report was impossible. Therefore, rescuers set out on foot to reach the victims through the Left Talgar gorge.
By early morning, rescuers reached the hydrological post and examined the tourists. After weather conditions improved, the injured were evacuated by a Kazaviaspas helicopter to the Medeu platform, where they were met by a team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' Disaster Medicine Center. The tourists were then taken to a medical facility for further examination and treatment.
