In the mountains of Almaty, the body of a climber has been found on the Severtsev Glacier at an altitude of about 4,300 meters above sea level. Rescuers and police are developing an evacuation plan, reports infohub.kz.

The Almaty Department for Emergency Situations reported that specialists are currently determining how to conduct the operation to bring the body down. Access to the location is difficult due to the high altitude and rugged terrain.

"Currently, organizational measures are being taken to assist police officers in lowering the body from the Severtsev Glacier from an altitude of about 4,300 meters above sea level. The operation is complicated by the inaccessibility of the area and the harsh high-altitude conditions," the Department said.

Rescuers are coordinating further actions with the police, taking into account necessary procedures and safety requirements.

Earlier it was reported that the presumed human remains on the glacier were discovered by tourists from Belarus. The find was announced on Facebook by Anastasia Akhmetova.

According to her, on August 16, her acquaintances completed a two-week hike in the mountains and after descending told about what they saw on the glacier. The tourists recorded the location in photos and videos and saved its coordinates.

Akhmetova claimed that they could not get through to the 112 emergency service. After that, the information was passed through the 109 service, and the coordinates, photos, and videos were sent to emergency services via WhatsApp.

Now, employees of the Department for Emergency Situations, together with the police, are preparing to bring the body down from the glacier.
