Kazakh singer Rinat Shamshyrak has sparked outrage after posting a video showing him driving while his newborn son sits on the front passenger seat without a child restraint system, reports infohub.kz.
The video, shared on the singer's social media, shows Shamshyrak filming himself at the wheel as the infant lies unrestrained on the seat. Social media users and lawyers have called for action.
Almaty lawyer Anna Chernova filed a complaint with the police, urging an investigation. "Take measures for violating traffic rules and forward the information to child welfare authorities to take appropriate action," she wrote.
Many commenters criticized the parents, with some even demanding they lose parental rights. "Even if you drive slowly, someone could hit you at high speed. Follow traffic rules and don't make risky videos for views," one follower noted.
Kursiv LifeStyle contacted the Almaty Police Department for comment but received no response as of publication.
Under Kazakh law, transporting a child without a proper restraint system carries a fine of 5 MPR (21,625 tenge). The same fine applies for using a mobile phone while driving.
