Tourists unhappy with the ongoing repair of the road to the popular resort of Rakhmanovskiye Klyuchi in the East Kazakhstan Region have begun insulting road workers and getting into fights with them. The national company KazAvtoZhol has urged holidaymakers to stop the disturbances and treat employees' demands with respect, according to infohub.kz.
Major road construction is continuing on a section of the highway Ust-Kamenogorsk – Altai – Ulken Naryn – Katon-Karagai – Rakhmanovskiye Klyuchi. Due to asphalt paving, a temporary traffic restriction has been imposed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closure creates obstacles for tourists traveling to the resort: they have to line up in long queues and wait for a "temporary window" to reach the recreation area or leave it.
To ease the situation, an additional vehicle passage has been organized from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. However, in recent days, there have been increasing instances of aggressive behavior by some vacationers at the work site. "Instances of insults, threats, obstruction of road equipment operation, and use of physical force against employees ensuring traffic safety have been recorded," the national company said.
KazAvtoZhol noted that such actions are unacceptable because workers are performing their duties in difficult conditions, and each conflict and failure to comply with the temporary regime directly affects the completion timeline of the repairs. Moreover, the national company reminded that the use of violence, threats, insults, and obstruction of lawful employee activities entails liability in accordance with Kazakhstan's legislation.
