Legendary Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo has said he could end his international career at any moment, as soon as he stops being useful to the team. The footballer made the remarks in an interview cited by renowned sports journalist Fabrizio Romano on social media X, according to infohub.kz.
"If Portugal no longer want to rely on me, I can leave today. I have no problem with that," Ronaldo said.
He stressed that he is ready to pack his bags and leave for good if he feels his presence is no longer helpful.
"The day they think I'm no longer useful, that I'm creating a bad atmosphere, I'll pack my bags and go, no problem. I will continue to support the federation and the team in a new way. I'm here to help the national team. The coach, the president and the Portuguese people count on me, so I continue," the footballer added.
Recall that last week the Portugal national team made a decision on Cristiano Ronaldo — the striker was included in the squad for the UEFA Nations League matches.
