Former England international Wayne Rooney criticized the extended halftime show at the 2026 World Cup final, which lasted 27 minutes instead of the regulation 15, reports infohub.kz.

The halftime break ran for 27 minutes and 22 seconds, violating IFAB rules that allow a maximum 15-minute rest. Madonna, Shakira, Burna Boy, Justin Bieber, and BTS performed on the stadium pitch. The actual performances took about nine minutes, but gaps between segments pushed the break well over the limit.

"The best part was when it ended. I love all those artists, but it was total rubbish," Rooney told BBC Sport.
