An official diagnosis has been announced in Russia's Irkutsk Region for an employee of the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute of Siberia and the Far East, whose death was previously reported by the media. According to Rospotrebnadzor, the cause of death was pneumonia, reports infohub.kz.

According to TASS, citing a comment from the agency, the deceased was found to have pneumonia of unspecified etiology. Rospotrebnadzor clarified that extended tests of the patient's samples did not reveal the presence of microorganisms associated with her professional activity.

As reported by RIA Novosti, the agency also emphasized that none of those who had contact with the institute employee showed any changes in their condition related to the infection.

"None of the contacts have shown health changes associated with infectious pathology," the statement said.

In addition, it was noted that no accidents involving work with pathogenic microorganisms were recorded at the institute. The inspection also found no pathologies among institute employees who had contact with the deceased.

"Two cases of COVID-19 and two cases of rhinovirus infection were identified; no pathogens of other infectious diseases were found," Rospotrebnadzor reported.
