The Russian Embassy in Ireland has revealed under what circumstances the state is prepared to use nuclear weapons against NATO countries, reports infohub.kz.
Recently, European political circles have been flooded with statements claiming that Russia allegedly plans a military invasion of Europe. In response, the Russian diplomatic mission in Ireland issued an official statement.
"Such claims are completely unfounded. Moscow's position on the security situation in Europe remains unchanged, as President Putin reaffirmed on September 25: we have no plans, no reasons, and, most importantly, no real motives to escalate relations with Europe," the embassy said in a message on its Telegram channel.
The diplomatic mission added that this decision should be seen as a display of Russia's tolerance and restraint, given NATO and EU's noticeable military buildup along Russia's entire western border. The embassy also noted that from June to September, "almost continuous" NATO military exercises with anti-Russian scenarios took place in Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, and the Baltic Sea. Furthermore, information has emerged that the North Atlantic Alliance is allegedly preparing an air and naval blockade of Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad region.
"There should be no illusions: Russia will be ready to use its entire arsenal, including nuclear weapons, to defend its territory if NATO countries attempt to isolate the Kaliningrad region from the rest of the country. In such a scenario, the risk of an armed conflict is high, and there is a possibility that Russia will launch preemptive strikes on decision-making centers in alliance countries at an early stage of the conflict," the embassy stated.
Recall that earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow has no intention of attacking Europe. At the same time, he threatened European countries with a "short war" in the event of an attack on Russia.
Previously, it became known that NATO had prepared a plan in case of war with Russia.
