Russia has reaffirmed its readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and is open to discussing new proposals, according to infohub.kz.
At a briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said: “For our part, we confirm our readiness for a political and diplomatic resolution of the Ukrainian crisis, which we have never rejected, but on the basis of mutual understandings, including those reached in Alaska.” She added that Moscow was willing to consider possible initiatives and proposals: “We have never refused to discuss them.”
Earlier, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Omsk, called for freezing military operations. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Tokayev’s words came as no surprise. In response, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha thanked Tokayev for his call to halt the war in Ukraine, describing it as “a realistic, timely and wise signal.”
