A driver in Kazakhstan's Kostanay Region has faced court for a traffic accident he caused while intoxicated. The man was arrested and stripped of his driving privileges, infohub.kz reports.
According to the official Telegram channel of the Kostanay Region courts, the specialised administrative offences court in the city of Rudny heard the case against a driver for getting behind the wheel while drunk and causing a crash that damaged property (Part 3 of Article 608 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offences).
Case files show that in September 2026 the man, while intoxicated, was driving along Franko Street in Rudny when he struck a metal lighting pole belonging to the city akimat's housing and utilities department, causing material damage.
A medical examination found that at the time of the offence the driver was moderately intoxicated.
In court, the man fully admitted guilt for the administrative offence.
In deciding the penalty, the court took into account the nature and degree of public danger of the offence, the offender's character and all the circumstances of the case. By court order the driver was found guilty and sentenced to 20 days' arrest with a seven-year ban on driving.
The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
