Telegram founder Pavel Durov has been added to Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists by the Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring), reports infohub.kz.
According to RIA Novosti, Rosfinmonitoring included Durov in the corresponding registry. The entry reads: “Durov Pavel Valerievich, born October 10, 1984, in Leningrad.”
Individuals and organizations on the list are prohibited from interacting with the media, posting information online, organizing public events, participating in elections, and using financial services, except for paying taxes, salaries, and compensation for damages.
The day before, Durov was charged with aiding terrorism. Shortly after, Telegram’s official account on X (formerly Twitter) posted an archive photo of Durov sitting at a table eating and giving the middle finger to the camera. There was no caption, but the post attracted numerous comments.
It should be recalled that Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) accused the Telegram administration of failing to remove channels, chats, and bots “actively used by Ukrainian special services to prepare terrorist attacks and mass killings in Russia.”
