The Russian State Duma has expanded the list of categories of citizens with unexpunged criminal records who are allowed to sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense during mobilization and special periods, as reported by NUR.KZ citing RBK.
The bill, introduced by the Russian government on July 17, was adopted by the Duma the next day, expanding opportunities for citizens with unexpunged criminal records to conclude contracts with the Russian Armed Forces during mobilization.
The expanded list includes articles of the Criminal Code related to: smuggling of cash, narcotic drugs, pathogenic biological agents, weapons, nuclear materials, or explosives; banditry and organizing a criminal community; illegal entry into protected facilities; violation of security of fuel and energy complex facilities and illegal handling of nuclear materials; loss of documents containing state secrets; organization of illegal migration; and theft of nuclear materials.
The Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized that the document provides for strict control and the creation of special units for individuals with criminal records.
