World No. 1 women's singles player Elena Rybakina has sent a message to Kazakhstan's national team ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, infohub.kz reports.

The Kazakhstan Tennis Federation had earlier announced that the player would not represent the national team at the team tournament. The reason is that Rybakina needs to undergo medical examination and recovery from an Achilles tendon injury sustained before the US Open.

On her Instagram account, the tennis player made a statement about the final stage of the tournament.

"Hi everyone. I have to announce that I will not be able to take part in the Billie Jean King Cup this year. I am very upset that I will not be able to visit Shenzhen. It is a very nice place with an amazing crowd. The past month has been tough on my body. I need to recover and be at my best to compete again. I wish the girls good luck. Alga," Rybakina wrote in her Instagram Stories, adding the flag of Kazakhstan at the end.

The decisive stage of the Billie Jean King Cup will take place in China's Shenzhen on September 22–27. Kazakhstan will play Spain in the quarterfinals. The national team's roster still includes Yulia Putintseva, Anna Danilina, Zhibek Kulambayeva and Sonja Zhiyenbayeva.
