World No. 2 Elena Rybakina was unable to finish her quarterfinal match at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati, paving the way for Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek to advance to the semifinals, according to infohub.kz.

The match lasted only 28 minutes. With the score at 4-1 and 40-40 in the game in favor of Swiatek, Rybakina withdrew due to health issues. According to preliminary information, the Kazakhstani athlete experienced problems with her Achilles tendon.

During the brief match, Rybakina managed one ace, committed one double fault, and failed to convert any break points. Swiatek, on the other hand, did not serve any aces, committed one double fault, and converted her only break point.

In the semifinals, Swiatek will face American Jessica Pegula.

It is worth noting that had Rybakina reached the final in Cincinnati, she would have guaranteed herself the world No. 1 ranking.
