Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina (2nd seed) confidently advanced to the third round of the 2026 US Open, defeating Spain's Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (world No. 105) in straight sets 6:2, 6:4. The match lasted 1 hour and 8 minutes, reports infohub.kz.
In the opening set, Rybakina was flawless: she broke her opponent twice and closed the set 6:2. In the second set, the Spaniard offered more resistance, but the Kazakhstani needed just one break to seal the win – 6:4.
A key factor was Rybakina's first serve: she landed 65% of first serves and won 30 of 37 points on her first delivery (81%). She hit seven aces and committed four double faults.
Rybakina converted four of six break points, while Bouzas Maneiro used only one of two chances to break. The Kazakh also dominated in winners, 22 to 13.
However, Rybakina made 15 unforced errors to her opponent's 12. Total points won: 63-46 in favor of the Kazakh player.
In the third round, Rybakina will face Ukraine's Yulia Starodubtseva (world No. 58).
