Of the hundreds of Android smartphones on the market, only one model has come close to matching Apple's top flagship on the strength of its overall specifications, infohub.kz reports. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra has been singled out as the main and best-balanced competitor to the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The device packs a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, up to 16 GB of RAM, a 5,000 mAh battery and a high-quality display with Privacy Display technology, which hides the screen from onlookers. According to the authors of the report, this flagship offers the best combination on the mass market of hardware and a finely tuned One UI 9 firmware.

Even so, the South Korean flagship still trails its rival on key points. Apple's A20 Pro chip, built on a 2 nm process, outperforms Qualcomm's platform in performance tests. In addition, the iPhone 18 Pro Max retains its lead in video recording quality, despite the Galaxy's 200 MP main sensor.

Other models are not yet able to mount a full challenge. Google's Pixel 11 Pro XL flagship disappointed with the low performance of its Tensor G6 chip, which in tests falls behind even older devices. The Chinese Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, for its part, offers a newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip and an additional rear display, but it is not officially sold through carriers in the US and Canada, and its HyperOS system based on Android 17 does not yet match the convenience standards of Apple and Samsung flagships.
