In Satpayev, 60 families continue to live in a building declared unsafe two years ago: walls are cracked, structures are warped, and cold wind blows through the apartments, reports infohub.kz.
The building, which is several decades old, faces further deterioration. Cracks have appeared on the walls, structures are warped, and in some places there are through holes. Residents feel the effects of the deformation inside their apartments as well: some doors barely close, and cold air comes through the gaps. People fear even more serious consequences.
"This building was declared unsafe two years ago. But since then, our situation has not changed at all. Now we are asking the akimat for only one thing: to ensure our safety and relocate us from this building in a timely manner. We ask for safe housing," said Rashida Tukayeva, a resident of Satpayev.
The building is home to 60 families, including elderly people and children. According to residents, the problems are not limited to cracks and warping. With the arrival of cold weather, the apartments become increasingly chilly, and some doors are difficult to close due to structural deformation.
"Now it's completely impossible, especially in spring, the doors don't close, we have to sharpen and saw them so they close. Everything is warped, these gaps are already through—they widen, you can literally hear the wind, I cook in a frying pan, everything is warped to one side," said Lyudmila Krivochenko, a resident of Satpayev.
"As of today, no commission has been created for this building, so we cannot provide specific information. We plan to create the commission by the end of this week. At the beginning of next week, we will be able to report the results and give an answer. Now the fate of the building must be determined by a special commission. It will assess its current condition and decide what measures need to be taken. Residents, however, expect this decision to first and foremost acknowledge that their lives are in danger. But the unsafe building is their only home," said Gulmira Nurmanova, head of the sector of the housing inspection department of Satpayev.
