A criminal case against a 66-year-old resident of the Turkestan region, detained after a scandalous wedding toast, has been sent to court, reports infohub.kz.
The press service of the Turkestan regional police department said the case files have been handed over to the court.
As previously reported, singer Roza Alkozha posted a video of the incident on her Instagram page. She said the celebration took place in Zhetysai and the toast was made by a relative of the bride.
In his speech, the man said that after refusing alcohol at weddings, two more steps are needed. "First, we need to get rid of music. Second, men and women should sit separately. Let singers not be offended by me. If weddings are held without artists, they will cease to be stars and lose their popularity. In Sharia, they are called 'heralds of Shaitan'," the guest said.
According to the singer, such statements could indicate the man's adherence to one of the destructive religious movements.
Yerlan Karin and representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan reacted to the guest's words.
Later it became known that a criminal case was opened against the 66-year-old resident of the Turkestan region on charges of inciting religious and social discord. The suspect was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
