American media have revealed details of a secret operation to save US President Donald Trump from a possible assassination attempt during the NATO summit in Ankara, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Washington Post, confirmed by the New York Times, the incident occurred back in July. Trump, having boarded the main Air Force One aircraft in front of TV cameras, soon secretly switched to another, less conspicuous plane to avoid a threat from Iran.
"In Ankara, Trump boarded the old double-decker Air Force One in full view of TV cameras. However, just minutes later, he was secretly transferred to a smaller aircraft using an airport catering truck, typically used for loading in-flight meals before departure," the report said.
Journalists and White House staff on the main aircraft, who believed the president was flying with them, were asked to lower the window shades. Meanwhile, Trump flew on the smaller C-32A aircraft with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and only in the UK did he return to the main plane.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Donald Trump is ready to announce the end of the war with Iran even without a new nuclear deal, if Tehran fully opens the Strait of Hormuz.
