Sozak Fosfat, a company within the Seitzhanov family's business structure, will invest 150 billion tenge in the construction of a deep processing plant for phosphate ore in the Sozak district, reports infohub.kz, citing the Turkestan regional akimat.
The plant is scheduled to launch in 2028 and is expected to create about a thousand jobs. Over 10 years, the project's tax contributions to the budget are estimated at approximately 43.3 billion tenge.
The enterprise will ensure a full production cycle – from ore extraction and enrichment to the output of high value-added chemical products. Once at full capacity, the plant will be able to process 2 million tons of phosphate ore annually.
Annual production volumes of chemical products will be: sulfuric acid – 1.6 million tons, phosphoric acid – 600,000 tons, diammonium phosphate (DAP) – 600,000 tons, monoammonium phosphate (MAP) – 600,000 tons, and synthetic ammonia – 350,000 tons.
The products are planned to be supplied to the domestic market and exported to China, India, and neighboring countries.
The project is included in the Industrialization Map. The phosphate ore reserves at the deposit are estimated at about 1 billion tons with a phosphorus content of 20-30%.
The technological part of the project is being developed by the Chinese company Sinopec Nanjing Engineering Co., Ltd., with which an EPC contract has been signed. Currently, specialists are conducting site surveys, sampling ore, and verifying technological solutions. The feasibility study (FS) is planned to be completed in October this year, after which design, infrastructure development, railway construction, and equipment procurement will begin.
According to Serikzhan Seitzhanov, president of the Souths-Oil holding, 300 young specialists will be sent abroad for training to work at the new enterprise.
Serikzhan Seitzhanov and his family rank 27th in the Forbes list of the 75 richest businessmen in Kazakhstan, with a fortune of $402 million.
The family also owns the construction company MunaiKurylysService, the drilling company Smart-Oil, Standard Cement, Central Asia Mining Co, and the cyanide plant Talas Investment Company. The Seitzhanovs also own the Rixos Khadisha Shymkent and Rixos Turkestan hotels, and the Khanshaiym Plaza shopping mall.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that a new plant worth 9.5 billion tenge was launched in the Almaty region.
