A man in Semey will stand trial for the murder of his wife. According to the victim's relatives, she was struck about 28 times with a baseball bat, reports infohub.kz citing NUR.KZ.
According to the Telegram channel 'Kriminalny Kazakhstan', the victim's relatives say that in April, the 52-year-old woman told her husband she wanted a divorce. A few days later, the man allegedly burned her clothes and documents, as well as their children's documents. 'Later, he ambushed his wife and struck her about 28 times with a baseball bat. She died from her injuries. The victim's family claims that the man had abused alcohol for many years, beat his wife, and harassed her after she decided to leave,' the post states.
According to the Telegram channel, the suspect fled after the incident but was quickly arrested and detained. The case was investigated under the article 'Murder'.
The police department of the Abai region stated that since the criminal case has been sent to court, they are not authorized to comment on the circumstances or evaluate the evidence until a verdict is reached.
