On July 16, a large forest fire broke out in the Borodulikha district of the Abai region, prompting the evacuation of 190 children from a summer camp. Firefighting efforts are complicated by extreme fire danger and intense heat, as reported by Orda.kz.

Firefighters from the state forest protection and emergency services have been dispatched to the scene, along with an AS350 helicopter equipped with a Bambi Bucket water-dropping system and four firefighters from the aerial fire service. A Mi-8 helicopter from Kazavialesookhrana flew from Katon-Karagai village to the fire site. "The forest fire was recorded in block 57 of the Kamyshenskoe forestry in the Borodulikha branch of the Semey Ormany reserve," the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan reported.

According to operational data, 101 police officers and 25 service vehicles, including four buses and two KamAZ trucks, are involved in the firefighting. Helicopters have made 24 water drops using bucket systems. Additional forces and equipment continue to arrive at the scene.

The press service of the Emergency Department of the Abai region confirmed the evacuation of 190 children from the Dos Bol Like summer camp located on the territory of the Kamyshenskoe forestry. Two children were taken by their parents, and 188 were evacuated to the village of Borodulikha.

In the summer of 2023, the same reserve experienced the largest forest fire in Kazakhstan's history, which killed 15 people. Earlier, it was reported that fields near Stepnogorsk burned for a long time after a lightning strike.
