The flames that hundreds of people and aircraft battled for several days have been stopped. A large forest fire in the state forest natural reserve "Semey Ormany" has been contained, reports infohub.kz.
The fire, which broke out on July 16, 2026, was contained at 9:45 a.m. on July 18. Specialists managed to halt the further spread of the fire after a large-scale operation involving ground forces and aviation.
Firefighting efforts involved staff from the state forest reserves "Semey Ormany" and "Ertis Ormany," units of the Republican State Enterprise "Kazavialesookhrana," as well as forces from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, National Security Committee, and local executive bodies.
In total, 769 people, 191 ground vehicles, and 8 helicopters were deployed to fight the fire. Aviation played a key role: since the start of the operation, 319 water drops have been carried out, delivering 709 tons of water to the fire site.
After containment, specialists continue work on-site, conducting territory monitoring and necessary measures to fully eliminate the fire's aftermath.
