Two teenagers are in hospital with stab wounds in Semey, and the Abai Region Police Department is investigating, infohub.kz reports.
Relatives of one of the injured boys told the Seventh Channel TV station what happened. According to them, two 13-year-old classmates decided to ride a horse and play. However, something went wrong, and their meeting is believed to have escalated into a fight.
As a result of the incident, one of the teenagers was seriously injured and underwent surgery for several hours at the hospital. The boy's body had about 15 stab wounds, and he lost a lot of blood.
"He was diagnosed with a penetrating stab wound to the abdominal cavity with damage to the parenchyma of the right kidney and the greater omentum, complicated by intra-abdominal bleeding. There are also multiple stab wounds to the body and limbs, and first-degree hemorrhagic shock. The operation lasted four hours. Currently, the child's condition is stable, and he has been transferred to the pediatric surgery department," said Dulat Karimov, Deputy Director for Pediatrics at Semey University Hospital.
It is reported that the second person involved in the incident was also taken to the hospital the same day, with about three to four minor wounds.
The police are conducting a pre-trial investigation, and based on its results, the issue of placing the minors on the register, as well as holding their legal representatives accountable for improper fulfillment of child-rearing duties, will be considered.
